Building a PR partnership

We know the valuable impact that press and media relationships can have for organisations and the individuals within them. Our longstanding partnership with clients demonstrates how excellent PR can improve credibility, strengthen messaging and make a genuine impact within an organisation.

How it started…

PASA exists to promote and improve the quality of pensions administration services for UK pension schemes. The company was set up in 2011 by a small group of like-minded industry thought leaders and has grown its membership and industry presence substantially since then.

We started working with PASA shortly after their launch, with a remit to:

  • Raise awareness of the organisation and its aims, standards and accreditation programme.
  • Build credibility for PASA with a strong, regular and appropriate media presence.

Importantly, PASA were looking for us to become a trusted advisor who could work proactively with them to strengthen their offering and establish the organisation as an active body and voice within the pension industry.

The story…

At the heart of each of our client relationships is an in-depth understanding of the people and organisation we are working with. This was of particular importance while working with PASA which, as a Community Interest Company, is run by volunteer working committees and a voted-in Board and Chair; both of which change over time.

Our team attended regular Board and committee meetings in order to fully understand the organisation and the issues its members are concerned with. This first-hand and consistent exposure enabled us to provide input, to challenge on content, and to develop our PR strategy to suit the needs of the organisation as they developed.

Over the years our work has covered the full remit of marketing and PR activity. We worked with members of the PASA team to produce a regular newsletter, which is sent to keep members informed of developments in the organisation, and also produced Spotlight newsletters which focused on specific issues and provided members with information relating to a particular guidance theme. We ran PASA’s launch event ten years ago and have helped them to establish a strong social media presence since, advising on platforms and content and running their social media strategy and activity on event days.

We even undertook media training with PASA spokespeople and introduced those spokespeople to relevant media contacts. During these meetings, PASA spokespeople were able to demonstrate their expertise and establish credibility to speak on certain issues.

Where they are now…

10 years on and PASA is now a well-established body and a highly valued participant within the pensions industry. The organisation has driven change and, through its work and accreditation programme has raised standards of pension administration across the UK.

We built a longstanding and trusted partnership and have seen the direct impact this has had on PASA’s role and status within the industry. PASA spokespeople are now regularly sought after by journalists across the pensions media to provide opinion and commentary on pension administration and other key industry issues.
