PTL, the leading independent trustee and governance services provider, today announced that one of its Client Directors, Melanie Cusack, has been appointed as the Independent Chair of Electricity Pensions Trustee Limited.
The eight-strong board of Electricity Pensions Trustees Limited (EPTL) oversees the 26 Groups of the Electricity Supply Pension Scheme (ESPS), one of the largest pension schemes in the UK, with some 173,000 members and £43 billion in assets.
As Independent Chair, Melanie will bring leadership skills and a strategic perspective to the board, as it seeks to balance the pensions challenges affecting the diverse employers participating in the scheme.
The EPTL Deputy Chair Alastair Russell commented: “ Melanie has extensive pensions experience and an impressive track record of chairing trustee boards and sub-committees. She brings the appreciation of the wider pensions landscape, gravitas, and clear leadership skills we were looking for. We are very pleased to welcome her to the EPTL board.”
Melanie Cusack, Client Director, added: “This is an atypical and interesting role. With many standard trustee responsibilities delegated to the 26 separate groups, my focus will be on providing executive leadership and support for the groups to work well together within the ESPS structure. I am looking forward to building on my predecessor’s excellent work and collaborating closely with my fellow EPTL board members, sponsoring employers, and the other stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcome for members.”
